Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion
Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion

I believe in the Clinique 3 Step Skin care philosophy – Cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize. Clinique has a range of clarifying lotions for exfoliation but the Mild Clarifying Lotion works best for my sensitive skin. I’ve tried the Clarifying Lotion 1 for Very Dry to Dry Skin but I wasn’t satisfied with it a 100% because it contains alcohol. Mild Clarifying Lotion has an alcohol free formula – definitely a big plus for those with sensitive skin. It also contains the magic ingredient salicylic acid. Salicylic acid helps unclog pores and fights acne. I don’t have an ongoing acne issue so I cannot say whether this product curbs acne or not but it has helped me control blackheads. It also contains plant extracts like Aloe barabadensis leaf powder and millet seed extract (both of which function as a skin conditioning agents). I’ve referred to the Beautypedia review of this product on Paula’s Choice – which a global resource on cosmetics that I find very useful. This product has a good rating on Beautypedia too. Here is the Ingredient List – Water, Butylene Glycol, Biosaccharide Gum – 1, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Salicylic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Powder, Arginine, PEG-10 Soy Sterol, Ceteth-20, Panicum Miliaceum (Millet) Seed Extract, Dimethicone, Ceteth-2, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Cetyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Green 5, Yellow 10

I have been using this product for the last 2 months. I use this product twice a day before moisturizing. I just dab some on a cotton pad and gently sweep downwards starting from the forehead, down to the neck and décolletage. The skin feels quite fresh and squeaky clean after using this product. It makes the rest of the skin care routine more effective since the other products absorb better after exfoliating. Every morning I follow up this product with a the Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum, Clinique Moisture Surge Intense and Anthelios XL SPF 50+ from La Roche-Posay. For my night time skin care routine, I use Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum followed by Clinique Youth Surge Night cream.

My skin is sensitive and this has worked well for me. I think this is certainly is a nice addition to my skin care routine. If you’re looking for a good BHA or daily exfoliant for sensitive skin, ask for a sample of this product when you visit the Clinique counter the next time. While I have sensitive skin and this product has worked for me, it may not work for everyone with sensitive skin because everyone is different hence trying a sample first will help.

Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion is available in India directly from Clinique counters for approximately Rs 1500. It is also available online via Strawberrynet for Rs 1577. Customers in US can buy this product from the Clinique USA website for $13.50 (200ml). Customers in UK can buy this product directly from the Clinique UK website for £16.50 (for 200ml).
