Magazines, dermatologists, beauty books and blogs have brought up my awareness about the harmful effects of sun to a level where I (like several other beauty conscious women) wear sunscreen soon after washing my face in the morning. I could have never imagined myself doing something like this about 15 years back when the effects of UVA and UVB rays were not so widely spoken about or lets just say I didn’t know about them. In fact, I have done a lot of damage to my skin by skipping sun protection. Last year my dermatologist sat me down and drilled it into my head that there’s no escaping sunscreen if I seriously want to take good care of skin. The dermatologist recommended a wonderful cream from La Roche-Posay called UVIDEA XL Melt-In Cream SPF 50. I loved it but unfortunately it went out of stock. That’s when I started using La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Extreme Fluid. It is a light weight, milky white lotion that blends very easily. The description on the packaging says that it provides very high facial protection (obviously because it is SPF 50+). It is also fragrance free, Paraben free, non- comedogenic and water resistant. I have very sensitive skin and this has not broken me out. I have been using it regularly for over 6 months now. I missed using it for one day and ended up with a tan – so I know it works. One thing I struggled with initially was getting it to work with my moisturizer. Whenever I use it over my Clinique Moisture Surge cream, I end up with a weird problem – the sunscreen just wouldn’t blend with my skin and formed small white balls as though it was peeling off. However, when I mixed my moisturizer with the sunscreen and then applied the concoction, things work perfectly fine. Everything blends well and looks fine. I don’t end up with a white cast on my face after applying this sunscreen. In fact during summers I can even skip my moisturizer because this sunscreen provides the required hydration to my skin. Makeup sits perfectly fine on this sunscreen. Overall I am quite satisfied with this product and I am on my second bottle now. In fact the newer version is even better – the packaging is super cute and convenient.

I love the shape of the bottle and the small lid on the side. It is so easy to carry in a purse or a handbag or for that matter even in a pocket if you’re wearing a jacket. The texture is super light. It gets absorbed into the skin in no time looking almost invisible.
