The Mac website describes Up The Amp as lavender violet but I would say it is more violet than lavender. The formula is creamy and it just glides onto the lips effortlessly. This lipstick is from “Amplified” range of Mac lipsticks and therefore quite pigmented. The finish is shiny and opaque. This is one of my favorite lipsticks. I feel it instantly brightens the face as well as my mood
It isn’t a daily wear kind of a color and some may find it a bit bold. The color is such that it may take a little getting used to. If you find it to be too dark, you can mix it with a lighter lavender shade to tone it down but in my opinion it looks great when worn by itself. The eye make up can be kept minimal with this shade. A neutral eye with black eyeliner will look great. I love wearing Up The Amp with MAC Funtabulous Dazzleglass. MAC Magenta is a lip liner that works well with this lipstick. I like wearing Up The Amp with Blue outfits. Here’s a simple look created using MAC Up The Amp. I am also wearing MAC Funtabulous over Up The Amp.
Here is a list of the other products used – MAC Prep+Prime SPF50, MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation SPF 15, Clarins Translucent Powder in the shade 01, Clarins Blush in the shade Sienna, eyeshadows – Urban Decay Naked Palette – Toasted on the lids and Hustle in the crease and outer corners, Eyeliner – LOreal Super Liner in the shade Brown, lips – Lip Liner MAC Subculture , Lipstick MAC Up The Amp, Lip Gloss MAC Funtabulous
This lipstick wears well for up to 4 hours. It doesn’t stand up to eating or drinking and will need a touch up.
This lipstick is available at Mac counters for Rs 990. It is available on the official Mac Website for $16.00
